Fedora 10 + KDE + missing screensavers

Today I made another interesting discovery in Fedora 10. My (somewhat) vanilla install did not present me with any other screensavers than the one called ‘Blank screen’ or whatever. A case of packages for screensavers not being installed? I thought so and went and made sure that the following packages got registered in the system:

Edit: [Bind-DLZ + MySQL + threads a no-go}

Recently I was contacted by Marc from oriented.net web hosting due to him having a problem with Bind-DLZ and MySQL similar to one I had a while back. He had found a post I submittet to a Bind-DLZ mailinglist and wondered if I had managed to resolve the problems. After some correspondence back and forth he was able to solve it on Debian Etch. I’m posting (with permission) the solution that worked for him. This is his work, I’m merely reposting.

Bind-DLZ + MySQL + threads a no-go

I recently got a question about why Bind-DLZ start behaving oddly together with the MySQL-driver from time to time (or rather from installation to installation). However if I shutdown the program and try to restart it, then for some strange reason it no longer connects to the MSN-service. If I reboot the computer then everything is ok again. I’ve seen reports of this bug on the Debian- as well as Fedora-mailinglists.

Easter holiday

Easter == playing in the snow, right? Well, normally that is true for me, but this year is a little different. Until 04/03-08 I will be in Thailand with the family bathing, eating incredible food and getting sand where sand really shouldn’t be. Awesome! The trip started by flying out of Bergen 03/20-08 with SAS at approx 10AM. No foodstuff during the flight. Oh how I miss the good old days. It is really quite funny how SAS has had commercials with the slogan “Relanserer service” (ENG: “Reintroducing Service”), and then they don’t even serve food unless you fly business-class (well, technically you can buy).. Is it just me or does that seem, uhm, odd?
